Who is responsible
The data controller for Aletheia Bible is:

Independent developer

Privacy questions and data-rights requests: privacy@aletheiabibleapp.com

What this policy covers
This policy covers the Aletheia Bible iPhone and iPad app and the public pages served from aletheiabibleapp.com. It does not replace the privacy policies of Apple, Cloudflare, or another service you independently use.
Information handled by the app
Information stored locally
The app may store reading-plan completion, favorites, highlights, user-authored notes, theme and notification preferences, queued synchronization state, and the Scripture reference you were viewing. This information is stored in the app’s local storage on your device.
Bundled Scripture text, translations, original-language resources, Atlas data, chronology, genealogy, timeline, and research packages are application content. They are not uploaded as personal data.
Optional private iCloud synchronization
In a CloudKit-enabled release, choosing Back Up & Sync Now sends a limited personal-study payload to the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple/iCloud account. That payload can include:
- reading-plan completion;
- favorite Scripture references;
- highlight choices;
- user-authored Scripture notes;
- translation and collection identity needed to identify the saved reference; and
- timestamps and schema information needed to merge changes safely.
This information is linked to your Apple/iCloud account by Apple’s platform, used only to provide synchronization and recovery, and is not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking. Aletheia Bible does not receive your Apple Account password.
Local notifications
If you enable reading reminders, the app schedules notifications on your device. Notification preferences are stored in app-scoped settings. Aletheia Bible does not operate a marketing-notification server.
Local research service
The app can optionally connect to a research service you run on your own local network. That local connection is initiated and controlled by you. It is not developer collection and is not routed to an Aletheia Bible hosted service.
Information handled by this website
The website does not ask for your name, create user accounts, operate contact forms, use analytics, set non-essential cookies, use advertising pixels, or write to local or session storage.
Like most websites, delivery and security infrastructure may process limited technical request information such as an IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser or device headers, and security signals. Cloudflare processes this information to deliver the site, provide network security, and prevent abuse. We do not use those requests to build advertising profiles.
If you email us, we receive the address you use and the information you include. Please do not send passwords, full authentication codes, payment-card information, or sensitive information unrelated to your request.
Purposes and legal bases
Where the General Data Protection Regulation or similar law applies, processing is limited to these purposes and legal bases:
- Provide requested app functionality: local study features and user-requested iCloud synchronization are processed as necessary to provide the service you request.
- Operate and secure the website: limited network and security processing is based on legitimate interests in delivering a reliable site, preventing abuse, and protecting users and infrastructure.
- Respond to messages: support and privacy correspondence is processed to answer your request and, where applicable, take steps you request.
- Meet legal obligations: information may be retained or disclosed when required by applicable law.
We do not rely on consent for advertising cookies because this site does not use them. If a future feature requires consent, it will not be enabled before a clear choice is provided.
International transfers
The controller is located in the United States. Apple and Cloudflare operate internationally, and technical information may be processed outside your country. When European data-protection law applies, transfers are handled under the safeguards and transfer mechanisms offered by those providers and required by applicable law.
Provider information: Apple Privacy Policy, Cloudflare Privacy Policy, and Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum.
How long information is kept
- Local app data: remains on your device until you delete it through available app controls, remove the app, or erase the device.
- Private iCloud data: remains in your private iCloud storage until removed through available Apple/iCloud controls or an app-provided deletion function.
- Support and privacy email: retained only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain an appropriate support record, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
- Infrastructure logs: retained by Cloudflare according to the applicable service configuration, contract, and security needs.
We periodically review information under our control and avoid retaining it longer than necessary for its stated purpose.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.
Because synchronized app records reside in your private iCloud database, the developer ordinarily cannot browse or retrieve that private content. Your device and iCloud controls are the primary way to access or erase it. See Privacy Choices for practical steps, or email privacy@aletheiabibleapp.com.
We may need enough information to understand a request and confirm that we are communicating with the appropriate person. We will not ask for your Apple Account password or complete authentication code.
European residents may find their supervisory authority through the European Data Protection Board’s authority directory.
Security
The app uses local storage boundaries and Apple platform services. The website is delivered over HTTPS with restrictive browser security headers and no executable JavaScript. We use data minimization, access controls, and provider security features appropriate to this small, static service.
No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. If you believe you found a security issue, contact support@aletheiabibleapp.com and avoid including exploit details in a public forum.
Children
Aletheia Bible does not create developer-operated user accounts and is not designed to collect information from children. The app is not presented as an App Store “Made for Kids” product. If you believe a child sent personal information to a support address, contact us so the message can be reviewed and deleted when appropriate.
Automated decisions
We do not use personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. The policy will be reviewed when app networking, synchronization, analytics, advertising, account, or website behavior changes.
